While navigating, adjusted the maximum frame rate to 60fps but issues persist. It seems there aren't multiple monitors available.
Make Task Manager run quietly in the background. When you receive the frame dump, press Alt + Tab and observe the chart instead of focusing on the percentage. If the graph ever hits 100%, that indicates an issue.
It's likely that the uncapped frame rate remains an experimental setting. I don't remember facing many problems with Reach, but performance has been quite poor when playing co-op in Halo CE or Halo 2. You might find more assistance by asking on halowaypoint.
Reviewed it a couple of times while it dropped, it increased slightly but not close to 100%.
CPU limits aren't always straightforward with games. Even low usage doesn't guarantee smooth performance. Start with Prime95 using one thread, check Task Manager for bottlenecks. If the CPU struggles, it might be a GPU issue. Use MSI Afterburner to monitor all metrics. Play through levels until you see the needed drops. Then adjust graphics settings—lower resolution, disable textures—to test if performance improves. If drops persist, try reducing graphics quality significantly.
I tried to capture the performance in the morning, but there were very few frame drops. The ones I did see were minimal and didn’t last long enough for a screenshot. The screenshots below display CPU, GPU, RAM usage and temperatures. Even when the game dropped from 60fps to lower frames, the usage stayed under 50%. My CPU peaked at around 46% on core 1. I’ll attempt again later tonight to try and record the frame drops.
Photo 3 shows normal performance with CPU at 77%, likely reaching 100% during a lag event. No other applications were running, and there were no unusual actions. This seems to indicate CPU strain rather than deterioration.
