The hard drive is operating at full capacity and the system remains completely non-functional. It's been this way since the start, and despite repairs, it hasn't improved. After cleaning and virus scans, nothing changes. This machine is essential for work, and replacing it isn't an option right now.

Do you have an SSD installed? If not, it's time to install one. Also, look for any unnecessary software from ASUS and back up your important data before proceeding. Try reinstalling Windows and see if it improves performance.

@Morris_lee_9116 shared their thoughts: 2.5 HHDs are terrible. Consider getting an MX500 and a budget USB to SATA adapter. Check if your laptop has an available M.2 port.

Removed unnecessary bloat. The hard drive is a bit strange to replace without understanding the problem. Plus, I don’t have money for it.

You can use a small SSD with limited storage, such as 256GB or 128GB, and connect it to an external USB hard drive enclosure. Plug the drive in when needed, and you don’t have to match its capacity with your computer’s requirements.

Like I said to him. "Hard-drives suck" is not an answer. This is abnormal behavior not representative of even the shittiest hard-drive. Something on the system is hitting it and I want to know what it is so it can be fixed

Windows and other applications are becoming more demanding, and laptop HDDs can no longer keep up. That’s the reality. You can use ProcessExplorer to review all running programs for any suspicious activity, but I believe the drive is simply beyond its capabilities.

I don't have a specific amount of RAM, but I can help you check or configure it if needed.

I confirmed its status at 8. I'd verify again, but it appears frozen. I assumed the RAM was swapping with the hard drive initially, though if that's the case, usage would be at full capacity.

This means you should start with a clean setup of Windows 10 and remove all unnecessary software from Asus and Microsoft.
