This was a frequent problem with Windows 10 on laptops using HDDs. SSDs are the preferred choice for the operating system drive. To help, ensure minimal background processes are running, keep your software fully updated (to avoid unexpected updates), disable Windows search indexing if needed, and review the drive’s SMART status to confirm it’s functioning properly. You can also examine the Disk section in Resource Monitor (via Task Manager > Performance tab > Resource Monitor) to spot unusual disk usage or high 'hard faults/sec' readings. If issues persist, consider a factory reset or a fresh installation of Windows—though this may cause additional disruption if many applications are active.

your laptop has a 2TB Toshiba HDD with minimal disk activity—usually around 0% when idle. The reason behind this is unclear, but it seems the system treats both the silver and Samsung SSD similarly. Interestingly, when you power them on together, the silver drive started a bit quicker (about 8 seconds vs 15). In short, unless you're doing heavy copying or updates, the difference is negligible. Just sort by "disk" usage and click where it says so… (note: we can't see the exact disk stats from this image).

You possess complete details. The disk usage it displays isn't clearly visible.

That's not much… but turn off all except Windows Security and restart the laptop, just to see if it helps. Who knows? It could work as a test.

It's odd but I think it might be the hard drive or Windows setup. You could run a user benchmark test—it’s good at spotting bad drives, though not perfect. If this keeps happening, I’d recommend replacing the drive (SSD or HDD) and installing a fresh Windows version. Removing the old drive first lets you back up files later if needed, and might actually resolve the issue. By the way, what are you using CCleaner for? The tool isn’t very helpful and can easily damage Windows.

I've never faced any issues with CCleaner. I rely on the basic clean and registry clean. It's been in use for about 15 to 20 years. I've never damaged any computer, and it's proven helpful on very messy systems.
