Choose a reputable source for genuine keys. Trust verified vendors like Microsoft or official retailers. Look for discounts, bundle deals, or promotions to save money while ensuring authenticity.

I wouldn't trade a PC without an official key, as it could come back against you if it isn't from an authorized seller. If you're selling a large number of keys, you might be able to secure discounts directly from Microsoft.

Avoid purchasing the Home version—it restricts your ability to modify privacy and data collection settings. For my needs, I stick with Enterprise or, if possible, LTSC.

Selling PCs and home devices goes beyond just having enough. Many users aren’t interested in these details, and most gaming PCs and regular laptops come with Windows 10 Home, which most people don’t require additional features for.

They may not be interested right now, but in a couple of years they could have gained more knowledge about using their PC and might want to adjust settings that Home prevents from changing. Some users post on forums seeking assistance with disabling or controlling Windows Update, only to realize they can't access the Group Policy editor since it's not part of Home. It makes little sense to purchase Home because it restricts future options.

The term 'official key' typically refers to the standard product keys provided by Microsoft for their software licenses.

You're not the direct user but design it for others. Running unactivated Windows violates our rules, but since you won't use it, a future user can add their own activation key. Alternatively, switch to a Linux system.

However, I’m coming from an authorized reseller and I’m not aware of anyone selling Windows keys for less than a few hundred dollars. Or arranging bulk volume discounts if you’re moving many machines. Most users won’t need to interact with these tools at all. If they do, they can upgrade to a professional plan later. Only a handful of people regularly deal with group policy or similar features in Windows.
