I own a vega 56 and an i5 8400. The Jedi Fallen Order is causing big FPS drops in some parts. Are others experiencing the same issue?

Up to now I've only tested it on my 5820K rig with specific settings, and it's performed quite similarly. I don't notice big drops in FPS. Are your system resources limited, or are there many background processes?

It's not extremely large; it reduces from around 75 to 49 during a slide or near an opponent.

it's not quite the same. you're dealing with 12 threads, while he/she has 6. a big difference.
this game is another console port needing at least 8 threads. even an old FX 8350 runs it smoother than an i5 8400.
sorry, but this CPU isn't suitable for gaming anymore. new i5s will have HT, which means only 6 or 12 cores.
i think we're hitting the end of the hexa core line.
i gave up on Fallen Order and Detroit: Become Human because of stutters. i could play Assassin's Creed Odyssey, but it was an exception. now it's getting too late...

Very unlikely the FX is improving much compared to an i5 8400. I tested it with my RVII and saw almost no change versus my OCed 5820K. At the time, I was using a higher overclock setting. For fairness, I didn't play Fallen Order on that setup—mostly Destiny 2, plus some Tomb Raider. It might just be this game that struggles with pure hexa cores.

stable frame rate. almost no issues. no noticeable lag. occasional stuttering. not very consistent frame rate. many interruptions. seems like the game struggles with pure hexa cores. that’s what worries me. developers might not prioritize 6 threads from now on. uncertain about this CPU. I’m already struggling more than an old FX 8350. it’s natural to be frustrated. there’s no certainty this problem won’t keep happening... and it likely will

Sorry for going through it again a year later, but it's really fascinating. I didn't realize game developers were optimizing their games specifically for 8-core CPUs like the FX 8350 instead of the more common 6-core/6-thread setups. It seems console performance can definitely boost older CPU speeds. I'm curious to see how it would fare in a test—would the 7700k beat the 8600k? Based on your data, probably the 7700k would win.

I tested it on my Ryzen 5 3600 and GTX 1660 Ti, and it experiences stuttering while exploring new sections. It might be related to the fact that I installed it on my HDD.
