Do you think the Ivy Bridge EP is equivalent? Since I'm running a dual Xeon rig with six cores and twelve threads, along with additional features like more RAM support and ECC, the setup is quite different.

Really, I thought a Xeon should provide at least 6c/12t... Probably not on that specific setup. It seems the Xeon has an additional 200MHz maximum boost on the 3770K, but it doesn’t seem worth the investment.

Yeah, reread @jaslion rationale if thats your xeon upgrade idea. Its not worth while unless you wanna buy a whole server/workstation board (or hacky bios for your board) and really need ECC RIGHT NOW in which case i would just go for a B550 with CSM module and a used 3200G/Ryzen 5 3600.

I think op is referring to the xeons on their board and they’re not a good investment.

These are regular consumer xeons. They typically have just four cores. Intel usually doesn<|pad|>, and base consumer models don’t feature more cores.

The 3200g would lower the game quality because it removes four extra threads, which I don’t suggest.

You use the workstation-class Ivy Bridge EP, which unlocks many additional features. It remains Ivy Bridge, which I manage well, though I don’t play much, so FPS isn’t a priority for me.

Xeon refers to server hardware, but it doesn't automatically mean it's superior to a Core i. Your motherboard also lacks support for better CPUs. If the CPU still works well for you, stick with it—real upgrades require a new motherboard and RAM on top.
