You've had to adjust the CPU socket because the cooler backplate wasn't installed correctly. Your 32GB RAM setup only supports 8GB, which is why performance dropped. You bought a mix of 3200MHz and 3000MHz modules, but using different speeds caused issues. Despite some fixes—like resetting CMOS, re-seating the RAM, changing positions, updating BIOS, tightening cooler screws—your system still ran smoothly for a while. The RAM did work with your specific configuration for at least a year. There’s still hope if you continue monitoring and make further adjustments.

You can easily purchase a replacement socket retainer online. They are typically secured directly to the motherboard and can be taken off. It’s strongly advised to address any mounting pressure concerns on your PC and repair it before continuing.

A low-cost contact frame could address the issue?

Are they produced for LGA1200? I’ve been convinced they’re only made for LGA1700. Thanks for your assistance!

They told me the motherboard should be replaced, but because the system is still functioning, I’m not ready to give up. What are your thoughts?

Is it unreasonable to purchase a new case just to buy a regular ATX motherboard? Because having a mATX-only case restricts your options a lot. Does it make sense, especially when you're on a tight budget? I really don’t want to give up my CPU. Thank you for your thoughts.

The issue arose after installing my CPU cooler improperly. Once it was placed correctly, it functioned but only under certain circumstances. The RAM operates only when one port is connected. One of the RAM modules works with either 1A or 1B power if those are the labels for the slots near the CPU. Thanks for your assistance!

It seems you're asking about whether the store conducted any real testing or if they were just giving generic advice.
