There were also issues with the drivers—it was quite chaotic. Additionally, the 580 model had a higher frequency memory, and the game had been modified to run under less than 1.5GB due to necessity.

I adjusted 6970 to have more base clock stock compared to other models, though it still can't be directly compared. The 6900 series was overclocked quite poorly in terms of clock speed.

The GPU's automatic conversion feature didn't noticeably improve performance, yet the way textures loaded appeared more obvious again. After a short while of playing, it became clear but remained easy to spot.

The problem here lies within the engine. It uses id Tech 5 and it's basically a roulette. Some people have 0 issues while some have constant screen tearing, texture loading, FPS drops yada yada yada. I was sadly one of the latter people so I get where you're coming from. Interestingly if you google the issues with the game, people are getting the same problems they got with Rage which is the only game that ran on the mentioned engine before Wolfenstein. Apart from technical stuff it's a brilliant game.

Of course, I understood the reference. Fortunately, I faced no problems with The Evil Within, so I couldn't discuss it further, though I've noticed many people owning it.

Consider giving Wolfenstein another go now that you have a GTX 580. I completed it on the 7770, but it wasn’t ideal—so I had to stick to the lowest settings and 720p resolution.
