I’ve got buddies who enjoy WoW, and I’ve felt this strong desire to try it out lately. (It’s more of a pull than a true need, but that’s what it feels like.) Do you think it’s still a good idea to play now?

Spent two months gaming, went broke, and battled a WoW habit. Would totally lose all friends and cash again—definitely 10/10.

It is an amazing game, but as others have said, prepare to spend hours and hours, and eventually yelling at everyone who stands in fires.

Additionally, one of the reasons I haven’t begun is that I’m struggling to progress in the game. I need to spend a full year playing through it without stopping.

It doesn't really add up, you're missing vanilla and BC—these were the top patches. Things have taken a turn for the worse since then; most of me and my friends no longer play it. But if you know someone who still plays, it's always enjoyable to hang out with them.
