I've been involved with the game from the start and stop, but it really reached its height in WotLK and has been pretty bad ever since. Plus, it's just a huge waste of time. Edited on Nov 29, 2015 by eLucid
It's really a good point when you consider it. WOTLK was a highlight of their story, which made perfect sense. Everyone was eager for it even though they didn't want it to conclude. For the OP, you can still enjoy vanilla or WOTLK on private servers that are quite stable now. One of the top private servers I played on recently is molten-wow. Check it up on Google. They offer two versions: WOTLK and CATACLYSM. I stopped playing just to try different games. It's super addictive, especially if you're into the lore.
Nah as a veteran player, I couldn't recommend that game to anyone. I wasted countless hours and money playing that game to the point where it became like a job. The game doesn't have any goal or eventual end to it, you'll just be trying to get gear and gold for the entirety of the game till a new DLC comes. I was an active player from Vanilla -> Burning Crusade -> WOTLK -> Cataclysm
It becomes work instead of fun when you're stuck in that routine. I get that vibe—Dailies, Battlegrounds, weekly raids… It’s frustrating. What really hurt me was how powerful the monks were in the arena.
