Hi everyone, I find the CS:GO ranking system confusing at first. When I first started, you needed 10 wins to climb, but I ended up losing a few and winning all 10. That meant I was always near the top, earning me a Silver 2 rank. It’s hard to understand how that works. I’m not a strong player, yet I feel stuck in Silver. I usually win around 35 matches, though I sometimes lose. I’d love to play against better players to improve. Thanks!

Did your two losses mark your initial games? The top matches most impact your standing. Yesterday my friend and I were chatting with buddies who are just beginning. Our debut on the account was against Silver 1s/2s. After securing that win it instantly put us in a tougher set: Silver 4s/5s. Who you play with and face also plays a huge role. Playing alongside someone higher ranked boosts your points because you appear to be winning against stronger opponents. The actual game outcome doesn’t matter much—ELO is based on rounds won, lost, and MVPs earned. Scoring 16-14 while being the weakest will have no effect on your rank and might even lower it. If you’re looking to improve, I’d love to play with you. I’ve been a newcomer for about a month but have climbed to MG already. Last night I bought a smurf just to practice with friends so I can share some advice. (Although I’m still learning CS, I’ve logged over 5,000 hours of competitive FPS experience, so I picked up quickly.)

I'm not sure if these were my first two games or the last two. I often face really bad teams with little communication, many Russian players, constant fights, and lots of AFKs. I usually win MVP awards and usually get the most medals in the whole server. It would be great if we could play together again. My Steam name is Tigerx95.

The ranking system seems unfair, especially after all my matches. I ended up in silver 3 despite winning most games and only losing twice. Even as a GNM, I still carry myself well. I’m a gold Nova Master—if you need tips, here they are. Avoid solo queueing; always play with at least three players unless you’re with a friend who can carry. Check out guides, especially those from WarOwl—they’re really helpful. Practice smoke/flash throws, work on 1v1 servers for spray and crosshair drills, stay positive for your teammates. Teamwork and strategy are key in CSGO. I have a smurf account at silver 2 and would love to help you improve. I’ll connect my main and smurf profiles once I’m back from school.

I mostly play by myself. I've seen many tutorials and my sprays work well. It should be enjoyable when playing with others!

Avoid wasting time on watching Warowl. Focus on content from CurseCS and Josh Nissan CS.

You're assigned to your right position or near it. Observe experienced players and look for tutorial videos.

I really don't feel like I'm in the right place, because I'm consistently leading the numbers.

Don't stress, it's quite simple to break out of the silver zone—just play for a couple of days, aim for around 20 wins, and you'll be in the clear. Keep up the good work and keep frying!
