They're far from matching up. It's mainly because wow works well on just 2-3 threads at a time—not about how it handles load or the number of active threads. The system specs seem to ignore differences between Intel and AMD chips... ugh.

That surprised me a lot. The i5 is significantly stronger than the 4100, especially considering its poor single-threaded speed. A G3258 running at 4.5ghz would easily outperform a 9590 in games like WoW.

The game remains inefficient. Achieving 35fps during a 25-minute raid with an overclocked i5 is not sufficient.

The new pre-expansion patch (6.0.2) released recently improved performance, and a few others noticed the same. It's a positive change.
