Hey, I've been using my dad's Lenovo Yoga Pro 7 for a while now. The PC isn't working well lately—performance is slow, RAM usage spikes after unblocking, and some services are still problematic even with Counter-Strike. FPS drops a lot, and it's unstable on Mac Java. I've updated the BIOS, Windows, drivers, and even tried Vantage, but nothing seems to help. It also gets very hot, even when watching Twitch in Chrome. Is this normal for this model?

The actual operating temperatures for the CPU and GPU vary depending on the conditions. At idle, they typically range between 60°C to 80°C. Under load, temperatures can rise to around 85°C to 95°C. Specific values depend on the system configuration and usage.

Similar to most laptops, yours becomes warm during heavy use. This is normal. In your scenario, the CPU temperature surpasses 90°C, causing fans to operate at full capacity and the system to limit performance to avoid harm.

It rests on a wooden table yet placed atop a mousepad. I just wiped the vents as instructed in your message. I’ll attempt to re-test the same steps now.

You might also consider using a cooling pad (there are many options) with your laptop. In reality, the results vary, especially depending on where your vents are and how the pad directs airflow.

Avoid placing it on any soft material that blocks air movement—this is especially important since the "laptop" itself can restrict ventilation.

Some users have adjusted their power settings to reduce peak CPU usage by lowering performance levels from 100% to 99%. This change typically helps decrease temperatures without noticeably affecting overall performance.

Does the 99% rule really turn off boosts? If that's the case, fine, I'm willing to give it a shot.

Sure, try it and let me know if it improves things. Consider power use and heat output as well.

Did a small CS2 test after cleaning the intakes just to check temperatures, as I hadn’t done that before in the other message? The temps look lower, but performance remains poor. Running at 1080p fullscreen windowed at 120Hz instead of laptop internal resolution which is higher. The screenshot appears a bit distorted because of dual monitors. I had to blur some areas.

Sure, I can adjust the refresh rate to 60hz for testing purposes.
