Right. I'll do a quick update in the form of me saying this: running this at 4K is...well...rough. It's an improvement now that it restarted. It plays at just below 30 FPS now, but not really what I would call comfortable. However, playing it at lower resolutions (1440p in particular) has shown enough of an improvement that I'm comfortable with playing it at that resolution without it freaking the hell out. As for the questions, I'll answer them individually. I have updated to Crimson. I have also not had to be too concerned about temperatures as I have Sapphire TriXX running in the background keeping my fans in check. Right now, though, they're spinning 100% because I can't be bothered to turn them down at this point since it resets to 100% when the computer shuts down. They never go above 60 Celsius anyway, and that's with the fans off. These are pretty cool-running cards. As for whether or not Crossfire is actually working, it does in fact work. The AMD CrossFire status icon appears when I boot the game up, so it's definitely running. Well ain't that just grand. Thanks, Volvo! Here's hoping Source 2 is at least more...let's say, forgiving in that regard.

Absolutely, the Source engine performs exceptionally well across all platforms.

Where have you been over the last ten years? That feels awkward. @ daniellearmouth Nice to hear your numbers are stable. I should note, raising the in-game's AA too high isn't ideal, is it? It's just a guess, but I'm trying to be honest.

Antialiasing appears as 'None *' and at this resolution it will likely remain unchanged.

I suspected it might still be running on x4 or x8 before you upgraded your monitor. That’s something I’d likely do. Now, with your monitoring tools, let’s check your CPU and GPU usage—are they within expected ranges?

I'll review that later, as I'm heading to bed now. What I intend to share is that I believe the issue might be linked to the second monitor. It's unclear how it affects things, but it seems the monitor could be damaging the VRAM the game requires. After disconnecting it, restarting the PC and reloading the game resolved the problem. Now I understand the steps needed to make Source-related games function properly. Odd, right?

Have you explored the Half-life 2 Update or played the original version? Source titles should function even on basic hardware, which is why it runs smoothly on a 7770. I plan to test HL2 at 4K using my GTX-650 (which should match your 7770’s performance) and share the outcomes.

Turn off Windows Aero during playback, a feature that can be set up using RadeonPro.

I already have the original version. I might attempt an update when I can tomorrow.

Both versions appear to deliver similar performance, you can verify this yourself. 4K with 4xAA gives about 30 FPS in both cases, while 4K with 8xAA drops to 10 FPS on both updates. Turning AA off didn’t boost FPS noticeably, so I stuck with 4x even at 4K. Original HL2 4K + 4xAA, HL2 update 4K + 4xAA, HL2 update 4K + 8xAA, and HL2 update 4K + 8xAA all show the same results.
