Issues with the GTX 970 in GTA V performance
Current configuration works well—1440p performance is stable, no MSAA needed, and you're maintaining around 60 FPS.
TheGreatCommunicator shared this problem in PC gaming yesterday... identical issues, but with a different CPU (i5-2320). It shows the CPU wasn't the cause. Appreciate the insight. However, I'm still confused about the fix.
Check the performance trends of GPU and CPU. Look for significant jumps when system slows down. Assess VRAM consumption. Ensure all advanced graphics options are disabled. Confirm if the game is fully utilizing resources. Determine the current settings.
I plan to play GTA 5 once it’s downloaded on my i5 4440 and GTX 970. I’ll also include it among my benchmark tests with the QX6850 (which slows down after an unsuccessful overclock), my Pentium 6500K.
Well if your using High textures you are probably reaching that 3.5gb vram, once you go over that your fps suffers. try to reduce your graphics settings to get it under 3.5gb. Then you should get good fps. But apparently there is a fix for the 3.5gb issue.
