It could be the IMC not handling them all at 3600 seconds. Either way, the gap between 3400 and 3600 isn't really noticeable.

The IMC is currently running on the CPU. Upgrading to an i9 should improve performance, but timing matters—consider testing before your planned installation.

Usually the IMCs on Intel CPUs perform well and can manage high frequencies, though the i9 might benefit from an upgraded IMC. The integrated memory controller is also worth mentioning.

It seems like you're considering a specific approach now. Intel likely didn't anticipate many systems using high-speed RAM with a locked CPU.

Not sure about the lock status, but the IMC remains good. The gap between 3400 and 3600 isn't significant, so you're not missing much.

It doesn’t affect 2 DIMMs in slot 1 or 3, and IMC doesn’t determine the slot location. That’s more about RAM arrangement than slot type.

Yes, but if slots 1 and 3 don’t work with 3600, a CPU change likely won’t make much difference unless a better IMC can help reduce the issue.

it is always kind of recommended to put the ram in slot 2 and 4 since generally, a lot of boards use daisy chain. but again, OP is running 4 dimms not 2.
