Issues with M.2 SSD startup
Issues with M.2 SSD startup
I received a fresh M2 SSD and put it in my computer. Initially, only the fans started up and the RGB lights activated. No image appeared, which was disappointing. I couldn't access the BIOS settings. I tried another M2 SSD, but it had the same issue. When I reinserted my regular SSD, everything functioned properly. I searched extensively online but found no helpful information. The components listed are: Windows 10, RTX 2060 Super, Super AMD Ryzen 7 2700x, 16GB DDR4 RAM (Corsair Vengance), ASRock B450 Pro 480GB SSD, Kingston A400 (the drive that works), and a 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Patriot Viper VPN100 (the M.2 unit causing problems).
Here are the components, with a focus on the motherboard:
- Motherboard
- CPU
- RAM
- Storage drives (HDD/SSD)
- Graphics card
- Power supply unit
- Case
- Peripherals (keyboard, mouse, monitor)
- Cooling system (fan, heatsink)
I used it both ways, with and without the old drive. The outcome was the same. If I insert the M.2 and place the old drive inside, it also works.
He made changes to the post, but the list disappeared when I shared it.
The alternative port is SATA 3, located below the graphics card. It’s not helpful since the M.2 unit includes a cooler.
Verify the boot order after installing the old drive, then proceed to install the M.2 while keeping the old drive active. You should be able to clone the old drive to the M.2, remove it, and it should function properly.
