Issues with low frame rates on GTX 1070 in Battlefield 1
8gb of RAM should suffice when running the game alone with minimal background processes. However, this is the most vulnerable component of your system and BF1 online can be quite taxing. Future titles are likely to adopt this pattern. Feel free to turn off Xbox DVR if you haven’t already, as the poor recorder significantly impacts frame rates. To disable it via Registry Editor, first launch Registry Editor (Run > regedit). Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\GameConfigStore and set DWORD "GameDVR_Enabled" to 0. Then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows, create a new DWORD 32-bit named "AllowGameDVR" with value 0, and restart your machine.
I disabled both Xbox DVR and shadowplay. I prefer closing all unnecessary programs when opening games for a cleaner setup, except for Discord when interacting with others. The Realtek HD Audio tuner and Windows PC status bar features are still blocked from closing. GPU, RAM, and CPU usage remain under control.
I previously had 8GB RAM and experienced issues with frame rates, then upgraded to 16GB and noticed improved performance.
Here are the findings - GPU ran near 80%, CPU around 70-75%, RAM stayed at about 6900 consistently EMPEROR S EDGE.
Your storage capacity is 8 gigabytes. That seems normal. It doesn’t appear to be the issue. Where did you install the game? Was it from an HDD, SSD, or SATA drive? Make sure the drive is functioning properly.
Perform this verification without using the pagefile. Windows will attempt to maintain extra RAM and might load textures into the Pagefile, which can slow things down. Check how it handles your textures when the pagefile is disabled, using a system with 32GB RAM that isn't using it.
@Ya_Mi I bought a 1TB Seagate HDD for this PC. There were some grinding and hitting sounds, particularly when downloading large files. I’m not sure if it’s the hard drive itself, but I remember having kernel crashes with my old graphics card—especially during gameplay. It’s running at 8GB RAM, and the spec says 7.94 GB. P.S. I thought the power supply was the issue before getting the new one, but it keeps making that noise too.
Find the instructions on disabling the pagefile in your operating system's documentation or settings.
