Hi there! You recently purchased a Gigabyte GA-990X SLI motherboard and installed your FX9590. You're encountering system errors and failed boots. It seems the board doesn't support the CPU you have, as indicated by error messages. After checking reviews on sites like AnandTech and Amazon, you found conflicting information about CPU compatibility. You tried clearing CMOS and even flashed a BIOS version that matched the board, but issues persisted. What's going on with the conflicting data?

If it doesn’t back it, it doesn’t back it, and not just because the BIOS hasn’t been updated for a long time—the whole FX system is failing. It’s frustrating you got the CPU without realizing this, but there’s nothing more we can do.

However, there are many references indicating it does. Numerous studies confirm this. Personally, my observations differ.

It doesn't matter what the internet says. Unless the hardware has issues, which is another issue entirely, the best way to check is by purchasing a model that's officially supported and testing it.

It doesn't function properly. Results won't match a 50$ AMD Athlon 200G.

It might only require a BIOS upgrade, though you'll likely still need a separate CPU for that.

The manufacturer's site doesn't show compatibility. This clearly indicates there isn't an official BIOS available for the board where the CPU operates.
