Vanilla metro 2033 delivered impressive high-resolution textures even at 1080p. It seems the developers are targeting similar visual quality, but using around 4 gigabytes of VRAM appears excessive. It’s possible they’re planning for 4K performance with the suggested settings.
AMD hadn't anticipated unified memory to alienate every gamer from the start, maybe they didn't expect developers to ignore PC needs and thought it could be a big trend. It seems too complicated to adapt the porting process, which is why we're seeing a requirement for 6GB of VRAM just because they couldn't shrink their memory solutions to fit more powerful systems with fewer RAM needs.
