Issues caused by power surges
Issues caused by power surges
I experienced a power surge recently and my computer began crashing afterward. One day it stopped booting completely, so I investigated possible causes. It turned out one of my RAM sticks had burned, which is why the PC worked normally when removed, but sometimes I encounter strange freezing or audio buzzing for short periods. I think the motherboard might also be damaged. Thank you for your help.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
When sharing a troubleshooting thread, make sure to provide complete system details. List your specifications clearly, such as:
CPU:
CPU cooler:
Motherboard:
Ram:
SSD/HDD:
GPU:
PSU:
Chassis:
OS:
Monitor:
Include the age of the PSU along with its make and model. Also mention the BIOS version for your motherboard at this time.
If you're using a Ryzen platform, note that a single stick of RAM may limit performance, and this applies similarly if the other stick is not installed.
