I just assembled a new PC featuring a Ryzen 5 2600X and B450-F motherboard. My setup includes a G.Skill 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL16 Ripjaws V RAM (serial: F4-3200C16D-16GVKB). In BIOS I set the RAM to 2133Mhz, but after changing it to D.O.C.P 3200Mhz and restarting, the screen goes black and the DRAM indicator lights up. After resetting the CMOS, it functions properly again. I’ve seen similar problems on other forums, though some users reported issues with incorrect slot placement. I followed the manual instructions for positions 2 and 4, confirmed the QVL, and verified the 8GB variant is compatible. I’m unsure what to do next.
Activate XMP profile, adjust DRAM voltage to 1.35V, set RAM speed to 2933 MHz, have fun!
what's your model? before purchasing the same RAM I researched its specifications and some users mentioned freezing issues. i planned to build a new system anyway and opted for this RAM in its specifications, so i bought it. now it's working perfectly on my old board without any problems, unlike what others experienced. possibly because of the latest BIOS. i recommend using the preset profile instead of manually adjusting the speed—it will set the voltage to 1.35 as boggy77 suggested. also, ensure your board has the most recent BIOS update.
Find the newest bios by visiting the CPU-Z motherboard section.
I'm using an ASRock B450M right now. This RAM isn't listed in the QVL for your motherboard (https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/So...essors.pdf). Odd that the 2x4GB version is available in the QVL. The RAM hasn't caused any issues so far, but it's not on my motherboard's QVL either. The latest BIOS is 2901 – you should verify your setup.
