Issue with NVIDIA GPU on PCIe X16 slot PCIe X16 connection problem affecting graphics performance
Hi everyone, please forgive the confusion. I'm using an Nvidia RTX 2060 on an Aorus Z390 Elite motherboard for three years. About a week ago, I noticed frequent freezes on my PC. Also, when I activated the Nvidia audio driver, it produced a noise along with the sound. I tried to figure out why and found that the issue disappeared after installing the graphics card in the second PCIe slot (X16). The problem returned when I installed it in the first PCIe X16 slot. Could the first PCIe slot or the CPU be causing the issue? Thank you very much.
Please be assured, thank you for your instructions. I'll proceed once the verification is complete. I'll capture the output for you afterward. Your confirmation means a lot.
That is strange, it's identifying the slot correctly. It could just be a broken or damaged slot of the motherboard. Have you tried blowing out the slot with a compressed air can? That will occasionally solve some issues. But it definitely seems like there's an issue with the slot.
I also tried using compressed air to force open the slot. Unfortunately, it didn’t fix the issue. I own another PC with an FX8350 processor. I connected the graphics card there and everything worked fine. I also have an older MSI ATSi R7 240 card. There’s no way to connect a power cable from the PSU, so I replaced the Nvidia card in the same spot where the problem started. After that change, the issue disappeared.
