I purchased an Asus router to swap in for my ISP's built-in hub. The issue is that the router isn't connecting to the internet. I've connected it to the Openreach ONT/modem, but it still won't function.

The Openreach box simply changes the signal from light to electrical and doesn’t follow TCP/IP standards like a typical router would. More likely now you need login details to connect to the network. You can get this info from your previous modem (router combo) or ask your ISP. The simplest approach I took was using the modem/router provided by your ISP, which I connected to behind a disabled firewall.

Wouldn't it be necessary to switch the ISP hub to modem mode? I don't think that's possible with the unit that came with me.

Not directly linked to DSL but they must match. I switched from Zen FTTC to FTTP and didn’t need any adjustments on the router since I’d previously used a DSL router in bridge mode acting as a modem, which the ONT now handles.

You've tried the PPPOE password but it's not working yet.

Reach out to your internet service provider. They might need to guide you through additional procedures they can assist with.
