Issue with DIMM slots A1 and B1.
My setup doesn<|pad|>'s start up only when DIMM slots A2 and B2 are connected, not A1 and B1. It functions smoothly with the same modules in A2 or B2 using dual channel. I've checked several fixes: 1) Returned a replacement CPU via RMA, 2) Purchased a new MSI X870 with WiFi, 3) Installed a different RAM, 4) Adjusted CPU cooler screws. My specs are Ryzen 5 7600X, previous ASUS Tuf B650, new MSI X870 with 8GB RAM, Zotac 4060 GPU, and Ant Esports ICE cooler. Does the system operate only with A2/B2 slots and then switch to A1/B1? Let me know if others encountered this issue.
The manual specifies slots A2 and B2 for the ram. Avoid placing it in A1 and B1 when only two sticks are available.
A RAM in slot A1 won't function if neither A2 nor B2 has a connection.
Consider testing it right away. It genuinely won’t worsen the situation. There’s only a positive side to trying it. Either the issue isn’t there and you removed a troubleshooting factor, or you’ve found the fix.
Are you trying to use 4 RAM modules or only two? If only two, why worry about it. From a lot of posts here, some Ryzen set-ups don't play well with all 4 slots populated, as well as the higher speed and timing of the RAM you have. If trying to fill all four slots, it's best to buy a kit rather than mixing modules. Then put one each in slot A2 & B2, let it do all it's memory training stuff, then populate slots A1 & B1, and let it do it's thing all over again, it can take a while. "Does the PC work only when DIMM slot s A2 and B2 are used and then only we can use A1 and B1 .( I am not sure about this by the way)" Well, they do say to start with A2 & B2, so... Pretty much that way on all modern motherboards.
I’m using just two modules now, but I’ll double-check everything before purchasing a four-module kit.
