Pagefile is a storage file in your c:/. Windows keeps some RAM data for performance. (I don’t remember why it was disabled) These files often match the size of your total RAM. The reason it’s off is unclear, and I’m even more surprised Windows became unstable after that change.

I specialize in video editing and workstation software, along with gaming applications. My setup prioritizes workstation tools first.

Windows uses hard drive space as a temporary solution for RAM. You can disable it, but it’s not advised. It doesn’t cause instability on its own, only when RAM is exhausted.

I've never encountered 24GB RAM before. On a workstation, 64GB or even 128GB are commonly used

That's due to my older model with triple-channel memory. The CPUs are Xeon X5650s, budget-friendly. Two of them match the power of a single i7 5960x.

It works if it fits. I've used weard ram stick combos before. Nowadays, even some pre-built computers come with 12 GB of memory.

Old Xeons offer great performance for these setups.

What were you thinking? Just turn the page file back on right away.

I considered a setup like that, but getting a dual CPU socket is either very costly or simply not feasible due to the connectors, perhaps in the distant future.
