Hello everyone, I recently installed a new rig with a Corsair Vengeance Pro 16GB DDR4 3600MHZ. Upon first boot, it was running at 2166MHZ. I checked the BIOS and enabled D.O.C.P., but it crashed when I set it to 3600MHz. I gradually lowered the speed until it stopped crashing at 3200MHz. I’m curious why it doesn’t reach the speed listed on the packaging. It’s paired with a Ryzen 9 3900XT and an ASUS Strix X570-F motherboard. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Confirm placement in slots 2 and 4, then adjust the SOC to 1.1 and DRAM to 1.35. Try 3200 with DOCP enabled and verify. If successful, proceed to 3600 with DOCP and test stability.

It was either DOCP enabled or the frequency was manually adjusted to 3600Mhz.

When I turn on D.O.C.P, it lets me adjust the speed. Or maybe I'm missing something. I'm just starting out with RAM and this is my first build in five years.

I've got them in slots 1 and 3 right now. I plan to shift them tomorrow. I'm working through everything and it's still a bit confusing. This is my first new build in a while, so all this feels unfamiliar. Appreciate the guidance!

With DOCP activated, the speed should remain consistent without needing adjustments. It might be adjustable, but it’s typically pre-set to 3600. That was unclear for me. What information did it display before you modified it?

Adjusting slots should probably resolve your issue. Viewing XMP/DOCP as a preset means it automatically applies BIOS changes, though you retain the ability to modify them yourself. Keep in mind that DOCP only handles certain XMP parameters—specifically speed, DRAM voltage, tCL, tRCD, tRP, and tRAS. It excludes tRC, tRRDS, tRRDL, tFAW, and tRFC which are part of the XMP standard.

Yes, the position may affect the higher MHz output depending on whether you use 2 & 4 or 1 & 3.
