The PCI-e 4X port connects to a switch, not directly to the CPU. It links to the Z68 chipset, which communicates with the CPU through the DMI interface. The chipset might handle negotiation to function in BIOS mode. I’m not very comfortable with Z68, but that could be the reason. For Smart6, reset your BIOS by removing the CMOS battery (check the front panel connectors for CLR_CMOS) or simply swapping it out. This will return BIOS settings to factory defaults. Most of these tools seem to be legacy Windows programs, except Smart6 which may already be part of the BIOS. After resetting CMOS, enter BIOS to confirm Smart6 is disabled. In the worst case, your board has two BIOS chips and will switch to the second one if the first fails. You can switch back to a non-beta BIOS if necessary.

minimal risk if anything fails—just remove pins 1 and 6 of the main bios chip, and it should work with the secondary chip if needed. There’s always desoldering and external programming using a Ch341A.

You can update the BIOS directly to the newest version, but it’s often safer to do it in steps. The manual suggests using QFLASH or the BIOS utility, and it doesn’t specify which is better. Dual BIOS support exists to prevent issues during updates. Whether you need to activate it depends on your setup—check the documentation for details.

This board uses a dual BIOS setup that starts automatically if BIOS 1 is found corrupted. BIOS 2 will then take over and duplicate itself to BIOS 1 (refer to the DualBIOS guide on page 62). You can upgrade directly to the latest version unless release notes specify otherwise. This change is unique because it relies solely on a .exe file. Rather than using QFLASH or @BIOS, simply run the .exe to begin the update.

Yes, you can simply run the U1B(UEFI BIOS) EXE file directly in Windows 10 without needing to go through QFLASH.

It's something I hadn't considered before: You could be required to reinstall Windows, or at least switch from Legacy BIOS to UEFI. You can find guidance here: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...1405f800d7. If you must reinstall, ensure you have another machine to create a Windows USB, or prepare the install media before upgrading BIOS. Windows might handle it, but it's uncertain. Also, if the 3050 runs smoothly at four times the speed, maintaining it might be better than changing.

The updated BIOS should not interfere with your RAM, hard drives, or fans. It focuses on system stability rather than hardware compatibility.

Hard drives you might need to use the Windows mbr2gpt tool I mentioned in my previous post, if they aren't visible in File Explorer. Everything else should work properly on its own.

Yes, you can transfer the executable to a USB drive and run it by booting from that USB during startup.
