I have a minor compatibility problem. Plugging my RTX 3050 into the PCIEX16 port triggers an error with a long beep followed by two short beeps, while it functions normally in the PCIEX4 slot. I also tried using my older 1050 TI graphics card on the PCIEX16 and it worked. I’ve included the audio file from the link you shared. The BIOS hasn’t been updated, so it appears to be the original firmware.

Not implying it fails due to this, but the 3050 features an 8-core GPU, so you won’t experience the full X16 performance. Check your motherboard manual for details on the "-.." error code.

The manual mentions an error code for a 1 long, 2 short configuration involving the monitor or graphics card. It’s strange that the 1050 fits in PCIEX16 while the 3050 doesn’t. I’m wondering if staying with the 1050 in PCIEX4 would give better performance than moving it to PCIEX4. Also, should the 3050 be placed in PCIEX4 instead of the 1050 in PCIEX16?

i believe the 3050 won't face significant performance problems in x4, it should actually reach its full potential. if you're not sure, try running a GPU benchmark in x4 and compare it to other 3050 tests. without noticeable differences beyond overclocking and minor errors, you should experience complete performance.

That's a valid observation.

is the 3050 a recent acquisition? if yes, consider sending it back as it appears to be a poor value card. opt for a used 1070/1080 model instead, which should perform better. note that newer cards often need UFI BIOS, and since your motherboard isn't UFI compatible, you'll likely have to max out the multiplier. based on what you mentioned, some high-end chips require more than +4 CPU boost, especially with higher clock speeds. avoid increasing BCLK unless you're certain about the processor's capabilities—some Z68 chips seem to have faulty BIOS recovery from BCLK. if it doesn't boot after that, you probably won't get a CMOS reset fix.

Your motherboard's existing BIOS isn't UEFI, which could be the reason for the problem. I looked through some online forums and discovered that users often face issues with RTX 30-series graphics cards when they're not using UEFI. On the BIOS download page for your board, a beta UEFI version is available for download. It seems your motherboard likely runs a Legacy BIOS, as the beta was the sole UEFI release. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/GA-...rt-dl-bios Upgrading to UEFI might resolve the issue, but it's not something you should do without fully understanding the process and potential risks. A safer approach would be to test it in the 4x slot first to see how it performs.

It makes sense the card functions in PCIEX4 without UEFI. It shouldn’t completely fail, though. The 2013 update note seems to suggest a download step, but it’s not clear if it’s mandatory. Updating BIOS is generally safe for most users, but always check the latest guidelines before proceeding.

The card we bought isn’t very recent, so I kept it in the lower slot for some time. When I moved it to the EX16 slot, I saw the error. It makes sense that it works with PCIEX4 without UEFI, otherwise it wouldn’t function at all. Updating the BIOS could be tricky if you’re not familiar, and it might carry some risk since I haven’t done it before.
