hello, i have a problem because my gpu uses only 40% to 60% on fifem and that makes my frame rate low. here are my specs: a 3070 ti, a 5600x processor, a b450 motherboard, gaming 32gb of ram, and an i5-12400f. my friend has a 99% gpu usage on the same spot but gets 20 to 40 more frames per second than me. his specs are: a 3060, an i5 processor with a 12400f, and only 16gb of ram, so he knows nothing about this issue but pls help him or myself it is really annoying
Do you have a decent power supply? When the GPU uses about 40 to 60 percent, how much does your CPU use? Also, are there any specific settings in the Nvidia control panel that control your maximum frame rate?
His graphics card isn't powerful enough so it has to work harder, which makes higher usage happen. Your CPU is weak in single tasks, so a game that uses only one thread won't show high frame rates. To check this, run a CPU test like cpu-Z and look at the single-thread score. You'll probably see something around 624: http://valid.x86.fr/bench/0gt9vb/1 The 12400 will get closer to 700. Watch out for how Task Manager shows up because Windows spreads work across all cores in a thread. If you had a game that used only one core, it would show 25% on four cores, making it look like the CPU isn't the problem. Averages can be tricky though; sometimes games switch between being CPU or graphics limited depending on what happens next. You might try opening Task Manager and clicking Performance to see Logical Processors. Recently, especially with Intel, it seems one single task is directed at just one logical processor for better results. Older versions tended to spread the work out to keep things cool, but that isn't always true anymore.
What exactly are you working on? Do you really need perfect speed? Having your processor or graphics card stay constantly at full speed isn't always good because it leaves no room for errors or extra power needed later. It means the machine is stuck with one job and can't handle anything else well.
It's totally okay if my graphics card is between 70% and 90% when I play video games. Sometimes you even see other people with the exact same computer running it up to 90% or almost 100%. The difference might be just how fast things are set, but having your gpu at that level isn't a problem for me right now.
