Is your computer acting up suddenly and unpredictably?
I assembled my own computer, and it has operated perfectly for the past five years until six months ago.
Recently, I've encountered some problems, but I haven't been able to pinpoint their origin.
I'm reaching out here seeking guidance on troubleshooting this issue and hoping to resolve this situation.
My system tends to malfunction unexpectedly, often triggered by pressing keys without releasing them.
This usually occurs during gameplay—especially when multiple keys like Windows, Alt, 2 Shift, and W are held down.
For instance, opening 100 Chrome tabs alongside launching MS Office causes the PC to shut down abruptly, and I noticed the keys were still pressed when I tested it.
Even after reinstalling Windows via cloud, the problem persisted.
I also tried disconnecting and reconnecting my keyboard, but nothing resolved the issue.
Another recurring concern is that my computer shuts off suddenly or enters sleep mode.
What's puzzling me is that I can't identify a clear cause. Sometimes it lasts for hours while playing games, only to happen again after just a few minutes.
It can occur after just a few rounds of a match, affecting various games, which suggests it isn't a game-specific problem.
Initially, I suspected a keyboard issue. I changed the keyboard, reinstalled drivers by deleting and restarting, replaced the RAM, and even rebuilt my entire system.
Now, only the original components from my old PC remain—SSD, HDDs, and peripherals.
I attempted to use just my keyboard and mouse for normal tasks, but nothing helped.
The only solution I found was restarting the PC during these incidents.
The hardest part is that I can't seem to locate anyone else facing the same issue, leaving me quite confused.
How should I proceed with troubleshooting?
Study additional details about the situation. Check the Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for error messages, warnings, or other logs recorded near the times issues arise.
I haven't used my pc for 7 days, so the next time it happens I will identify when it occurred. So far I didn't find anything unusual. Thanks for the tip, I'll check again at that time or earlier.
