When I press the shutdown button on my PC, it shuts down completely and the screens go dark. However, the machine doesn't actually power off—it just stops running. Removing the USB-connected keyboard causes the computer to shut down normally. Someone has an explanation for this behavior.

which type of keyboard is used or if it's standard? the specifics of your computer might matter, as some USB drivers come pre-installed in Windows and a BIOS update on the motherboard could be necessary.

i think i'm trying to recall something about corsair k, but i can't remember exactly what it is. it started happening during the first days of using it, more than a year ago. do i have to enter bios to update them, or should i visit the bios website? i've never updated bios since buying this pc about 3/4 years ago, just noticed you need a usb. i plan to try it soon to check if it solves the issue.

There are some K series models you can try resetting to check if it helps—yes, you can reset keyboards, though it's mainly for fixing RGB issues.

I haven't attempted this prior; I didn't realize it existed. I'm about to power down my PC, so I'll give it a shot. Thank you!

I used k55 rbg pro and followed the steps, but it hasn't worked after 10 seconds.

It can be challenging since I haven't managed to get it to function immediately. It's been more than a year, and I don't recall any shortcut.

I have a corsair straffe keyboard... Are you possibly using the software that came with it? I discontinued using it because the color changes and strobe effects didn't function correctly, and at times the program would prevent me from typing in the search box.

When I first got the keyboard, I downloaded it to make changes but later deleted it after a day or two because I thought it was causing problems. However, after a week of using it, my PC wouldn’t turn off, so I wondered if something I pressed on the keyboard—like the M button for macros—might be the issue. I’ll check the video to see if it helps.
