For a long time I used this PC for power options and sleep functions, turning off my monitors with the expectation they would restart immediately when I pressed the power button. Recently, after an update (though unclear if related), my PC won’t start back up when put to sleep. It doesn’t crash, but when I turn it off and restart, it boots normally as if just exiting sleep mode. I’m unsure what’s happening. Being tech-savvy, I checked the power plans settings, but nothing has changed. This is Windows 10 on an AMD system. I stick to my usual settings and haven’t made any adjustments.

It seems like a typical Windows update problem affecting your sleep and wake configurations. Navigate to Device Manager, select Network Adapters, right-click your Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter, go to Properties, and check the Power Management tab—uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer." Sometimes updates restore wake permissions that clash with your setup. If this fails, open Command Prompt and type "powercfg /requests" to identify any blocking factors for sleep/wake functions.

Also check Reliability History/Monitor and Event Viewer for error codes, warnings, or events around the times of failed start attempts. Examine Update History for any failed or problematic updates. Execute "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to identify and resolve corrupted or buggy Windows files.

event viewer displays only one error in the past hour, (just after restarting the computer), and the issue is
"Faulting application name: nvcontainer.exe, version: 1.44.3581.6461, time stamp: 0x67f7e5df
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 10.0.19041.6456, time stamp: 0x7ec9c15d
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x00000000000ff489
Faulting process id: 0x3d5c
Faulting application start time: 0x01dc7af6baddf8da
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\NvContainer\nvcontainer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report Id: b20c5816-5495-4aeb-916e-45eda5bc3190
Faulting package full name:
Not sure if it is related because I was having sleep issues before updating my GPU driver.
But after considering, the sleep seems more like a hibernation mode where it completely powers off my computer. I don’t use the keyboard to wake up from sleep. I just press power, then sleep, and my computer comes back online in about ten seconds.
Dism didn’t show any changes. Health checks indicate everything is fine.
SFC scan detected corrupt files in Windows Resource Protection and repaired them, but the CBS file only lists OneDrive, which I disabled a while ago.
I’m curious if removing the two most recent security updates from Microsoft would help test. If so, I’ve installed KB5071959 and KB5072653 on December 26th, around when I first noticed the problem."

Uncertain about the exact location of this "container," but initially I assumed it was related to Nvidia. Reflecting on the details, I found:
"{DRIVER} NVIDIA Broadcast (ROOT\UNNAMED_DEVICE\0003)
An audio stream is currently active."
This might indicate a corrupted Nvidia file. Examine it carefully for additional hints. The issues could stem from an audio-related problem that triggers further complications...
Consider reinstalling all Nvidia drivers.

Reinstalled the older Nvidia drivers. At first I only updated the video driver until I noticed it was outdated. Then I installed the newest version. Since I haven’t updated in a while, any issues would likely have been fixed by the latest Microsoft update. *Shrug* I don’t know much about this stuff. Now I tend to skip updates and accept that Microsoft’s updates are pretty basic. I’m moving more towards Linux because I don’t want to keep updating to 11. I don’t like the mandatory AI features and all the problems they cause. It’s frustrating since I’m an old gamer and many games won’t run well on Linux, plus a lot of my software won’t work either.

If this doesn’t work, I’ll remove those two updates. If that fails, I’ll check for recovery options and go back to a time when everything worked. Sadly, if the driver rollback isn’t an option, I’ll revert about a month after I’ve been using it. . . all this is just about sleep functionality... hmm, saying it like that doesn’t really matter much.

I updated the latest broadcast driver, but it didn't work. I rolled back to the software and driver I originally installed. I spent some time adjusting because my microphone stopped working properly. It seems there might be a connection issue. Now I'm back to my usual sleep schedule for the computer.

And it's all about repeating the same actions. No more waking up after a restart.
