Is there a "right" way to play Skyrim?
Hi everyone, I've been through Skyrim for about two weeks now. I'm still figuring out the best way to play—it feels like there are so many options: I can become a thief, a stormcloaker (sorry if that's not the name), or even an imperial character. I've explored most of the map, but I keep worrying I might be doing things wrong. Here are some concerns: 1. I feel like a bad guy from the start, and in the first few days I killed a lot of people. Even the blacksmith we met after arriving at Riverwood makes me wonder if this will affect the story. 2. I accidentally started fights by hurting children or women, which forced me to kill witnesses. I thought I'd killed Dolphine, but she came back! 3. I killed around five dragons before joining the Greybeards. 4. The biggest worry is that if I make a huge mistake, I might not be able to finish the game as intended. I know I can find answers by searching online, but I don’t want any major spoilers. So my main question is: Are there right and wrong ways to complete the game, or will it all end up the same no matter what? Anyone else have thoughts on this?
The answer to your question is no. It's a sandbox RPG. Ultimately, the experience depends on how you choose to play. I enjoy roleplaying quite a lot, but not to the same degree as others. The main story is relatively brief, yet side missions can consume a significant amount of time. For me, the game is about enjoying the journey itself. After completing everything, you can customize the game further—adding house mods, building castles, or creating a new character. I've developed over 500 characters and finished all relevant quests to match my roleplay goals.
I perform this regularly, visit various homes, and take items without permission. I eliminate guards to obtain valuable objects worth around 50 gold.
Thanks everyone, I was really concerned about damaging something. I think I’ll keep going and enjoy the ride. For the mods, I doubt I can manage it because I only have 1Gb of VRAM—it feels like running the game on such a slow laptop is almost a miracle!
Many updates don't slow things down and some even boost frame rates!
It could actually help. I spend about 20 hours playing Lizard Wizard, but then my game crashes because of all the wild quest mods and other issues.
