It’s designed as a vast open world. You’re free to explore Skyrim however you like—though recent changes are limiting some options—and you won’t interfere with the main narrative. You can also manually adjust the game if you wish.

I haven't played Skyrim, but I understand the rules about protecting important characters. Just remember, don't allow any game to dictate your approach.

I downloaded Skyrim, ended up getting confused for an hour... never played again! Joke about Fallout 3 too. Both got me excited by the buzz, but turned out I’m still more into first-person shooters.

Breaking the game through violence isn't the main issue. You can increase difficulty or reduce enjoyment by other means. Key characters remain unconscious unless you attempt to kill them. Since Skyrim is an open world, mistakes aren't really a problem. The only potential changes are in side quests. Things like guild restrictions—such as joining one guild but not another—could alter the experience. In my view, modifying the game and playing it your way is the best approach. It seems you appreciate exploration, and that's perfectly fine.

It’s impressive how intricate this game feels. The girl whose parents I killed still addresses me as "mean," and she mentioned she’s planning to forge her own sword. It seems mercenaries are after me too because of a kill I made in a village—it’s really immersive. Wonder if GTA V will match the depth of Skyrim.
