Need additional insights on this scenario! SPEC Operating System: Windows 11 Pro 64-bit (10.0, Build 22000) (22000.co_release.210604-1628) CPU: Intel® Xeon® CPU X5650 @ 2.67GHz (12 CPUs), ~4.1GHz MEM: 24576MB RAM DDR3 ECC GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 GIGABYTE AORUS PSU: EVGA 600 W1, 80+ WHITE 600W, 3 Year Warranty, Power Supply 100-W1-0600-K1 MB: ASUS P6T WS PRO ISSUE My GPU and CPU in CS2 match workload is around 30%-50% consistently, with FPS roughly ~100. The issue seems to be that the CPU is heavily limiting the GPU performance. Is there another factor at play or something I’m overlooking?
Thanks for clarifying your setup and observations! Feel free to share more details if needed.
You're referring to a setup involving a Xeon CPU. What were your expectations? They aren't built for gaming, they're meant for it only when you can find them at very low prices on used platforms. CS2 with the latest update favors fast CPU cores rather than many cores overall. You'd need to tweak the in-game settings to esports mode and then you might see better performance. A 3070 with a Xeon is actually quite capable, especially if you're aiming for over 100 FPS.
Esports configurations include several manuals per title for low and medium adjustments. You need to check the CS2 configuration guides. Xeon gaming is mainly for individuals with large budgets who purchase refurbished office PCs. They function adequately but shouldn’t expect performance matching gaming-focused CPUs.
My preferences are set to low, and I have limited funds. It seems I might have made an incorrect choice with this configuration—I hope it meets expectations. Appreciate your feedback.
The Core i7 models are almost the same as this Xeon. The issue isn't from the Xeon itself, but from its 14-year age. The system's design is limiting performance.
the image shows minimal CPU activity and the GPU isn’t ramping up as expected. It likely points to a driver or configuration problem rather than a CPU limitation—none of the cores reach their full potential. While 100 frames per second is acceptable, this setup shouldn’t perform much better.
