It's a good question about how rendering quality affects performance. The difference might be noticeable in lower resolutions, but it depends on your setup and workload. Using higher resolution settings like 1440p or 1080p can strain the CPU, especially if you're doing tasks that are CPU-bound. The gains in frame rate might be modest—perhaps around 5-10%—rather than the dramatic improvements seen in higher resolutions. It really varies by system and use case.

I only see the reason to pay 2x+ for a 5090 when a 5080 is enough. The main point is... if you're wasting money, spend it. Perhaps your focus isn't on the right approach, but when I'm purchasing the top GPU, I'm also getting the best CPU to match it. That's the deal.

I mean, you are getting a massive gain in performance going from a 5080 to a 5090. you already have a 5800x3d, no need to spend the 800 bucks to upgrade that part of the build with the new board, ram, and CPU until you feel you are lacking in performance. you dont need to upgrade the full computer Upgrade the GPU, wait three years, upgrade GPU or CPU, wait three years, upgrade whatever you didnt last time. etc. There is no strong reason to upgrade GPU/RAM/MOBO/CPU every three years, just upgrade one at a time.
