You're starting with AM4 and have no prior experience, so it's perfectly okay. AM5 is incredibly fast and really outperforms AM4 in every aspect.

9800x3D seems like a solid choice. It outperforms 9900 in gaming, and 9950 might cause problems if the game isn't optimized for it.

Not worthwhile unless you can squeeze a few frames per second in some games. If you’re willing to spend a lot of money without a clear reason, then maybe it’s worth it. Otherwise, skip it.

Only a 9800x3d or better is acceptable for a 5090. It's that straightforward

No, it doesn't boost speed. CPU constraints remain unchanged.

I suggested the change to boost performance by ensuring GPU constraints, aiming for higher visual quality when CPU limitations might occur.

Choosing budget tires for a Lambo is even more unusual. If you're investing in a powerful GPU, go all-in. Avoid shortcuts.

Going with tires for 180mph rating rather then the tires for 214 mph ratings on a lambo is a non issue even on the fastest of non-speedway racetracks. Even at QHD, the 5800x3d is faster with a 5090 then a 5080. There is no strong reason to say they should get a 5080 instead at 4k. even if they are CPU bottlnecked. its not bottlenecked enough for that to mater. If op is unsatisfied with the performance of their 5800x3d, then and only then should op look into the cost of upgrading to am5, and seeing what gains they get out of that, and deciding if its worth spending the money on a new board/ram/cpu to go from 210 to 235 1% lows on a QHD medium setting game. (I just went to a random time stamp in the video) But lets go look at the geomean Even at QHD the 5800x3d does not bottleneck the GPU enough for you to not get a performance gain here with a 5090 vs a 5080. OP already has the 5090. there are other tasks that OP might be doing that would not be CPU limited at all, If OP thinks its worth spending close to an extra grand, then they can for that additional 25fps, that is up to how much they value their dollar. at 4k the upgrade to a 9800x3d does infact show that the 5800x3d is being a bottleneck, but 101 1% lows to 108? who cares. They may have a specific game that they like to play that is more CPU limited, but then they need to find information about that game to inform their choice.
