That sounds like a solid plan. I’ll look into it once I’m back. These old drives from 2008 are definitely outdated, but I’m open to swapping them out if they’re causing problems. Thanks for the suggestions and support—everything’s set now. Will let you know tonight if everything checks out.
Also by the way... people often claim Ub is strong here, particularly with hard drives. I didn’t notice it at first since I just checked GPU and CPU quickly. Those two “red” drives are essentially nonfunctioning. That would probably cause problems, since otherwise no obvious issues show up and most benchmarks don’t detect this kind of problem. Drives like that seem random, which is unusual. So you’d likely want a Samsung Evo 860 or 850 and stop there. (My setup now uses an Evo 870 after swapping the Toshiba.) By the way, is the WD Blue your operating system drive? It didn’t even complete the test. Unfortunately, you’ll need to replace that one too. Still, I’d suggest sticking with just one or two Samsung EVOs—850, 860, and 870 are solid options and reasonably priced.
I’ll restart the UB after Mother’s Day meals since the WD Blue is only a week old. The software tool confirms everything looks fine, so I’m checking if it was just a short glitch. If there’s an issue, I want to handle it right away. Probably I’ll replace the other drives—maybe a budget HDD for Plex and one of the Samsungs you recommended for more games. On the other hand, I’m happy everything is working well now; as I mentioned before, I wasn’t sure what to expect based on that person promising I’d reach 200. Having clear goals will help me adjust my settings properly.
Yeah, honestly not sure if it’s a problem, but it’s still pretty fast... though that’s definitely a warning sign. If you run a few tests after retesting—like at least five runs—things might look better because these issues can be really random. I had a “basically dead” Kingston SSD, CrystalDiskInfo showed no errors, and the Kingston utility reported nothing. That was a “red alert.” It actually reached about 20MB/s. Once I got rid of it, all the strange problems disappeared. You could probably test it without the old drives if you’re lucky, but that drive definitely isn’t good either.
I believe this could be my last update since everything appears stable now and my expectations are confirmed. I've tested UserBench five times more and the WD Blue drive has performed normally each time; the other two drives are being considered for sale. It looks like those outcomes were just a temporary issue or...who knows! I also ran the WD utility and performed a BIOS check, and everything seems fine. I'll continue monitoring it. My most recent Fire Strike scores look excellent, and GPU temps stay steady at 74°C while playing Fortnite at 1440p Epic settings at 70-90fps. Impressive! Thanks everyone, it's reassuring to know this person is running smoothly. Time to focus on making sure my citizens in Frostpunk are as dissatisfied as possible.
