Hey everyone, just finished assembling my first gaming PC since getting a Voodoo2 back in 1999. I’m really pumped but also aware I might make some mistakes without realizing it. My friend who loves crypto builds helped me with the setup and everything’s running smoothly so far.
Here’s a quick rundown of what I found on PCPartPicker: I’ve got two old 7200rpm 600GB drives for extra storage. The rig is connected to an LG CX TV via an Ultra High Speed cable, and G-Sync is working perfectly. I ran UserBenchmark too—boot time, Rogue Legacy 2, and Fortnite all performed well.
But when I tried Fortnite, it felt sluggish compared to what I expected. Reddit users suggest I should hit around 100–200fps max without RTX, but based on my experience, even at 4k with DLSS and no shadows, the frame rate drops to about 120fps indoors and often falls to 70fps during intense moments. Sometimes it hits 45fps when opening a chest. There’s also noticeable stuttering—like a delay before a shot fires or before I react—which feels unplayable. Even capping FPS at 60 in Fortnite doesn’t fix the issue.
I’ve cleaned up my drivers with GeForce Experience, installed Ryzen Master and MSI Center, and checked all support tools. Still, some settings feel overwhelming. Am I setting myself up for disappointment? Should I stick to 1080p60? I don’t need crazy framerates, just a stable 60 is fine, especially since my TV supports VRR.
Do you think my expectations are too high for these specs? Maybe lowering the resolution or tweaking settings would help. Any tips on better benchmarks or stress tests to diagnose the problem? Or should I focus on simpler fixes like power plans and fan speeds?

Turn off V-sync via Ryzen Master, switch on PBO. Gather hardware details and keep an eye on temperatures. UserBenchmark isn't reliable for comparison. Run Cinebench R23 under stress. In BIOS, verify XMP settings. Which fans are you using? Are your components overheating? Are you applying excessive voltage to the CPU? Are you restricting its speed?
Last night the graphics card temperature reached about 75°C during gameplay. I installed an additional fan in the case; would you consider adding a third one?
it doesn't look to me that anything is wrong tbh, fluctuating framerates that is what Vsync or Gsync is for... although fluctuations seem a little high, but since this is an online game it might be normal. Get Firestrike demo from Steam. Run FIRESTRIKE benchmark, link to the results. Before suggesting anything we should figure out if its working as it should and that's the best way to do this.

If this is just typical performance, I’m okay with that; I’m just worried I might be missing something because I didn’t enable PBO. Those stories about watching DVDs on 1080p TVs without realizing they’re not getting HD are common. I don’t want to make the same mistake and think my setup isn’t doing enough. My performance doesn’t match videos like this—when I run at 2160p with DLSS Balanced and Epic, I get around 70fps unless I’m indoors and sitting on the floor, which keeps a steady frame rate in Burning Crusade raids. That person gets 90+ frames per second. Should I be using Nvidia’s Performance Tuning or MSI Center? Probably not for someone like me who isn’t quite there yet. Done; it didn’t seem to make much of a difference. My CPU multi-core count is 1513, but I’m having trouble. I tried A-XMP profiles 1 and 2—both look the same. RAM shows a lower clock speed than its max (2133mhz vs. 3600mhz), yet the bottom right still lists the correct speed. I even went into advanced settings and set XMP to Off, then turned it back On, but it didn’t stick. I exited and rebooted into BIOS, and it came back to EZ Mode. This is what’s worrying me—am I pushing too high a voltage or limiting my GPU’s frequency? I’m using default Ryzen Master settings except for PBO. I added a second fan to the case, front intake and rear exhaust. It’s a small case, but I don’t think it’s overheating much; temps stay under 80°C. Their labels seem strange; I wouldn’t assume a lower score would be better, but that’s what they said.

But overall everything seems fine. Don't worry too much; focus on adjusting settings that suit you. If you're unsure, using tools like Hwinfo64 or GPUZ would help. Loading problems are really disrupting the experience, making even opening a chest feel like a huge slowdown. The frequent stutters whenever something happens clearly point to a poor drive performance, though it seems the CPU and GPU are handling tasks okay. If this is true, a quad with an 1050ti chip would likely match the current results.
