Is the 6700k OC at 4.6GHz a safe setting?
I noticed Lars took over the OPs thread and I was responding to the wrong post. The original poster talked about his GPU issues, so I suggested setting up a fan curve for cooling. I replied because it’s his thread. Honestly, Lars doesn’t seem to have significant CPU temperature concerns under heavy use—his idle temps are fine, and he usually reaches 55-60°C during stress tests like prime95 and Aida. While 70°C is high, it’s unlikely in real gaming scenarios. I’d recommend trying Realbench or x264 instead. My 6700K runs at around 20-23°C idle and stays under 58°C under full load at 4.6GHz. One core hit 62°C during a six-hour stress test. What are your expectations for performance under load? Your temps look normal, possibly just a bit warm for a standard processor. I think it’s better to focus on other tasks rather than returning the CPU—your choice! Good luck! Back to the OP, you’re doing well and did a great job with the upgrade.
