Is Metro Worth It ?
The Steam sale was happening, and I was thinking about whether the metro bundle makes sense to grab. I’m not really into first-person shooters and wanted a story-driven game first. With only under $5 in my Steam wallet, I’m wondering if it’s worth spending or if I should hold off and pick something else. Happy Holidays! Thanks all.
If you like horror, it's a solid choice for the first dive in. As a shooter, it's pretty good, but the mechanics have shied people away. It gets my recommendation for story and gameplay. If it's any consolation, the start menu has more story than Battlefield 3.
In my view, the shooter stands out for its great ambiance. Since it's adapted from a novel, the plot is highly crafted and appeals to fans of the post-apocalyptic style.
I purchased the Redux bundle at a discount. It offers impressive technical features, but since I don’t play FPS titles, I found it lacking. For those who enjoy narrative depth, explore point-and-click adventures such as Life is Strange, Tales from the Borderlands, or The Walking Dead. Another standout is The Journey Down, an indie gem with a captivating, original vibe. The drawback is its trilogy format; the final installment remains unannounced and no release date is available. If you’re a Star Wars enthusiast, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic offers a timeless, story-rich experience that rivals films, books, and games alike. It’s highly praised as one of the greatest RPGs and narrative-driven titles ever created.
I purchased and enjoyed the first Metro game (2033) for about 40 minutes before losing interest. Now I’m playing Life is Strange (all episodes).
These metro titles offer deep immersion and intense gameplay, with gripping stories that feel real even when adapted from books. The visuals and sound design bring the chaotic underground environment to life, capturing the tension of crowded tunnels where fear and hunger are constant. Combat is tough and realistic, making it a rewarding experience for fans of horror or immersive games. If you enjoy those genres, this one is definitely worth considering.
