I own three computers at home, and my children will likely enjoy playing some of the games I plan to play next year. Is it okay to purchase a game and run it on all my devices? Will it function properly with today’s security software?

Which game? If it's available on Steam, you can install it as many times as you like.

Is it morally sound? Probably not, since people won’t respect you just because you saved money by running games on a few devices.

It seems some games require an account to play, or you need to share a library with someone else using Steam Family Sharing. Just remember, only one person can access the shared library at once.

Acceptable and officially endorsed. Keep in mind that when sharing with family, only one person may access the shared steam account at a time. Consider purchasing discounted or sale games so each PC can enjoy something locally while you buy premium titles once and share them. For example, getting multiple copies of Rocket League lets everyone play together, with someone using the main account while others use the shared version.

I think it's totally fine to purchase a game once and then install it multiple times. However, I can't share specific advice on how to do that because of the rules. From an ethical standpoint, it's worth thinking about the size of these companies—paying extra won't hurt them, and if anything is unfair, it might be better for someone else. Unless it's from a small indie developer, they're usually okay with it.
