Return to the Windows device manager. Are there any entries marked with question marks? Does the Realtek network adapter appear in the list of network adapters? What is the other connection point for the Ethernet cable you're using?

When there are no lights on the ethernet adapter, it means either the other side of the cable isn't connected to a proper ethernet device OR the motherboard's hardware is faulty. The board should show LEDs without any drivers needed. These LEDs are purely hardware-based and don't require drivers.

What is the type of the "extender" model? Which indicators on the extender reflect its status?

The RE450 should support an ethernet connection. However, if the LEDs on the motherboard are not illuminated, there may be an issue with the hardware. Personally, I would move the PC and monitor to your main router and connect it using a brand new, factory-made ethernet cable. If you don't see LEDs around the ethernet cable, then your motherboard likely has a hardware problem.

I'm confused. You're trying to link with an Ethernet cable, but you have the driver for a wireless adapter. Possibly this is the issue. You might have installed the driver for a Realtek wireless USB adapter, but not the one needed, so Windows says it can't locate it.

In the BIOS there could be a setting to turn the Ethernet chipset on or off. If it's turned off, Windows won't install drivers and you likely won't notice any green or yellow lights on the RJ45 port when connected to a router or switch.
