Is Easy OC Safe?
Is Easy OC Safe?
I just tried the easy OC at 4.6GHz and everything seems okay in the games I’ve played. However, nothing has fully utilized all cores. Is this safe? Will it affect my CPU performance during benchmarks or when upgrading to an OC’d 1080 Ti? Sorry if it’s obvious. This is my first time overclocking a CPU, and I’ve worked with GPUs before.
I’d save everything except two points: 1. adjust all core multiplier in BIOS to 50x 2. turn on XMP if it isn’t already. That should get it running smoothly. The 8086K is really a standout version of the 8700K—expected around 5GHz at roughly 1.350V (adjust ±0.010V if needed).
It seems the claim isn't the full performance boost. The 8086k is essentially a 8700k chip and supports an all-core OC of 5.0GHz or more. My 8700k runs at 5.1GHz without any problems. Check the Intel page for details.
Because the game only needs one core, the operating system will attempt to use multiple cores. With two, three, etc., cores available, the boost limits remain the same as with the 8700k, not just for all cores. It's not the best approach, but pushing further with automatic OC isn't a good idea. We should return OP to manual OC first and then discuss what he could explore next.
