Hello,
I've been using the HP Pavilion G6-2149TX for 12 years and believe it's time to upgrade.
It's clear I'm not a big laptop fan, which is why I've stuck with the 3rd Gen i5 for so long.
Now the machine feels outdated, and I don't want to invest too much in a new one.
Could an i3 12th Gen be a good upgrade?
I'm considering the Dell Vostro 3520 Laptop with Intel Core i3-1215U.

I suggest considering at least the Inspiron, even if you check their refurbished outlet. The Vostro is their budget option and doesn’t really reflect their top-quality products. It’s tough to predict what’s coming with all the improvements in recent years, but remember that an i3 might become outdated faster than an i5 in most situations.

500$ and I use it for browsing, reading books and that's all.

I don't suggest using the Windows "S" edition. Opt for a regular "Home" version instead.
The machine's specifications aren't terrible, but Wal Mart offers an i7 model for roughly $30 more. The one I saw is around $399 or higher elsewhere.

I usually recommend AMD over Intel because AMD offers better integrated graphics.

I have concerns about Lenovo as a brand. I've heard rumors they sometimes send laptops infected with malware or spyware. I'm not sure of the full details, but I usually steer clear of them.
