Ok this is not 100% sure but i do know that a buddy of mine works at intel that gave me a date of 2021-22 i am by no means saying I'm right but i was told that and do think its true and makes sense as I'm saying don't trust me on that but intel fans hope is here and considering the i9 10900k performence and that its 14 nm this is going to crush amd into nothing if it is infact true, don't hate please this is my personal knowledge

AMD will aim for 5 nm by 2021/2022, even though they achieved strong outcomes at 14 nm due to its advanced maturity. Their improvements won't simply come from smaller transistors alone.

This proximity allows their designs to be more precisely tailored for each node, making the 7nm process comparable to TSMC's 5nm. If Intel achieves this and sustains high yields, they could regain competitiveness. Absolutely, AMD is advancing and introducing fresh concepts for chip creation and integration. Considering the extended timeline Intel has faced, their current plans seem hard to accept right now.

i mean i’m backing amd in the CPU arena, but you’re not incorrect. intel uses a 14nm process and still outperforms amd in gaming. it wasn’t until amd reached 7nm that they could match intel there. the same applies to amd versus nvidia—nvidia operates at 12nm and still surpasses amd. if both continue improving their manufacturing, they could easily outpace amd consistently. the main challenge remains pricing, but intel and nvidia clearly have stronger technical expertise. i believe amd will hold up well on the CPU side, proving they can deliver better value without inflating prices excessively. personally, i favor amd for CPUs because they demonstrated they can compete effectively and keep costs reasonable. the 2600x i purchased at launch included hyperthreading, which intel would only offer if you bought the top-tier chip—something i didn’t afford then. now, i’m planning to upgrade to a ryan zen 4000. i’m unsure which model i’ll choose, but i want an 8-core, 16-thread processor. with consoles now using 8 cores, having more threads is essential. whether it’s a 4600x with dual and quad cores or a 4700x is uncertain. i’ll stick with nvidia for the GPU side, as they consistently perform better. while pricing is a concern, i prefer stability over lower-cost options with potential reliability issues. i’m also keen to track intel’s GPU developments—if they match amd and nvidia’s performance, i might reconsider my stance.
