AMD GPUs are generally low-end options, and comparisons to NVIDIA models like the 2060 and 5700 XT highlight their limitations. One friend recently experienced a 5700 XT failing after just a couple of months, which supports your observation.

It's simple to see how a 2070 super stacks up against the 5700Xt. What are you focusing on? Also, I wouldn't label AMD as a low-end GPU when they're matching nVidias' third best consumer chip.

But you mentioned something else—didn't mean the third generation. I believe the 3000 series will surpass what AMD has currently released, and I'm likely to choose that line for my next project. Your statement about the 2060 being similar to the 5700xt is incorrect: the 5700XT consistently leads by about 10 frames per second in games, with that gap reaching around 25 fps in certain situations. A more similar card would be the 2070 super, where the 5700xt is about 5 frames per second slower, but occasionally speeds up to around 10 frames per second faster.

I didn't make that comment exactly as you wrote it. The 5700xt falls between the 2060 and 70 models, not close to a 2080 release. It seems unlikely it will improve significantly, especially with leaks suggesting Nvidia moving to 7nm by the 3000s. AMD's performance with Nvidia is expected to decline, and their GPUs won't match the 2060 in speed. I still prefer the 2060 over the 5700xt because of the problems you mentioned—it really hurt my friend's 5700xD after just two months.

I remain convinced we achieve 14nm+ performance.
