Installation of Thermal Paste
Installation of Thermal Paste
During the installation of my new CPU (AMD Ryzen 5 8400f with stock cooler), my fingers accidentally touched the thermal paste on the cooler, causing some of it to fall off while most stayed on. Should I replace the thermal paste or is it sufficient?
Well... if you hadn't taken out the block after installing and running it, you didn't have to do anything.
However, since you apparently
did clean both sides thoroughly and applied fresh paste.
I haven't powered on the PC, I only installed and removed the cup cooler, then reinstalled it. I didn't turn it on at any point. After taking out the CPU cooler and reinstalling, I haven't powered it up yet. It's a new CPU, so should I purchase fresh thermal paste?
@Tomas Talaat
"I reinstalled the CPU cooler because I placed it in a way that didn't fit the cable properly, so I took it out and put it back in the correct orientation."
What cable?
Photos?
I changed the stock cooler to fix the alignment properly. There are no issues with the cables. The concern is whether removing the heatsink and re-installing before turning on the PC requires replacing the thermal paste because of air bubbles or not.
I haven’t checked the temperature yet, but I plan to do so after fully installing my PC.
What temperature signs indicate the CPU is working correctly?
