I'm working on a laptop with an i5-2410m processor and GeForce 410M using Linux Mint Xfce. I've tried reinstalling the drivers, clearing packages, fixing packages, etc. The additional driver installation isn't working, and I was using xubuntu. I installed Linux Mint Xfce in the hope it would help, but when it installs the driver it just displays a 4:3 logo image, then shows a login screen (just text) and the screen goes black afterward. I've already disabled the new drivers. Could you suggest other solutions? I'll let you know if I try again and see what happens. Thank you!

No, you still need to recompile the kernel.

Twenty years ago, while setting up Linux on a custom hardware laptop, we needed to add driver libraries and rebuild the Linux kernel with those libraries to ensure X-Windows functioned correctly.

Today's guides usually let you add it via extra drivers with a single click, or you can install it through the terminal and get a smooth, straightforward experience. However, I'm still facing issues where the drivers don't support running Super Mario World at 40 frames per second.

During the setup, a few images appeared when I attempted the installation. I continued using the website's instructions up to step 2.8.2, but it stopped working there.
